Symptom: Swollen Painful Lymph Node in neck. Diagnose Me!
Replies
My brother had this, due to salivary glands growing in the middle of his lymph nodes. They found this in a biopsy, which they did because they had ruled out just about everything except lymphoma, and were pleasantly surprised that it was not lymphoma.
i saw this episode where the kid's eyes rolled back into this head.
that might not be applicable here, however.
Before doing that I would have to poison, poke, prod, and torture you within an inch of your life. I mean that's how Dr. House would do it.
I wanna request Dr. Cameron please. She can poke and prod me any way she likes.
@JasAsian, Well. I'm not entirely sure it's a lymph node. If I stretch my head back, it's a tender spot to the left of my adam's apple. Between the muscle and the esophagus. It hurts to swallow a little bit but not so bad. It's a little painful when turning my head from side to size, but the pain scale (from 1-10 would be 2, 2.5)
i'm not really sure what you're referring to, but i can come up with a couple of people i could say the same about in reference to you. also, and i'm pretty sure i speak for most girls, violence is a little scary, so maybe you should knock it off.
Do you have any other symptoms? Do you have any skin infections local to that area? How much is it inflamed compared to the corresponding lymph node?
@mizzchelle, no skin infections. :- just the swelling. Actually i'm not even sure it's swollen. Just hurts. Wouldn't know how to tell if it IS swollen.
@mizzchelle, if you're asking if a skin infection is inflamed corresponding to that lymphnode, there's no inflamation of skin. If you're talking about the corresponding lymph node on the other side of my neck... the other node doesn't hurt at all.
Hmmmm...well, Michelle already went to the first obvious spot on the list: Swollen lymph nodes are usually the result of an infection somewhere down the line. Since its only one node (if it's even a node) and not the corresponding one, it's probably not anything like a sore throat (strep, etc.). Plus you didn't say anything about a sore throat, so that's out. You also said no on skin infections...besides that, do you happen to have any exceptionally nasty pimples in the area?
If the answer there is no, you might want to consider getting a doctor to lay eyes on it. Odd little masses that kinda hurt could be cancer, but we couldn't tell you that over the internet.
@JasAsian, nope. No exceptionally nasty pimples. I think I've got a shaving bump or two, but that's it. Thanks, I'll make a doctor's appointment soon. :)
By the way, JasAsian and Mizzchelle, thanks for that. It's really helpful. :) I really appreciate it.
