Electoral-Vote.com just jumped the shark.

"Pink States" and "Brown States" now represent Clinton and Obama!  And yes, these colors were choses for the reasons you're thinking---"demography is destiny in this election".  How crass!

PS: John McCain now beats both Democrats equally, so ignore my previous advice.  Endless, meaningless war is guaranteed no matter what you do.

I'm still convinced the dems will rally sufficiently behind one candidate to win in November. McCain is too liberal, so a lot of republicans will stay home. Bush has driven the republican party into the ground, so most independents will vote dem or not at all.

Then again, dems are amazing at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. For all their idealism, they sure fail at life.

There is a long way to go before people start panicking that McCain would beat Obama or Clinton. If the Dems can get the candidate picked, I think this summer will really screw the Republicans and McCain. I bet the war in Iraq will get worse this summer; it always does. Add an economy going into the toilet and I think there will be major gains for the Dems in November.

At least I hope.

I don't know what to think.

On the one hand, the Dems are really, really, really good at FAILING - and this is even without help from the Republicans disenfranchising voters and rigging Diebold machines.

On the other hand, Republican policy has very visibly lead to mess after mess after mess, culminating in a recession that's gonna put the hurt most of us.

California primary is over, I voted my conscience, I will vote again in November, that's all I can really do.

Now the latest buzz is the rumor that Condoleeza Rice is slated for the vice presidential slot. That's kind of scary from where I'm sitting.

Another interesting thing is that McCain is cautioning his democratic opponents against early withdrawl from Iraq. To me, that opens up the door of speculation on whether or not he realizes he's not going to do so well in November - a statement like that indicates to me that he does.

I suppose the bottom line for me is that the last several elections haven't been about voting in the candidate who is best for the country, but instead, voting in the lesser of two evils... and that depresses me.

ALSO. Here is my prediction. Philly, and thus PA, will go Obama.

I know this. I've never seen so much on-the-ground, in-the-streets excitement for a democratic candidate before. I don't care what the analysts say.
