I scheduled my retina surgery for Friday the 13th because I like to tempt fate...apparently.

you better not go blind, if you do, i'm so going to be sneaking up on you.
That surgery is the single most painful thing that has ever happened to me. I'm not saying that it's the most painful thing that could happen, but it's the most painful things I've experienced.
One of the worst things about it is the sickening popping sensations you hear/feel as they burn away sections of your retina.
Glad you're recovering.
In case you've never seen (or read) it, "The Day of the Triffids" is about a guy who retains his eyesight when the rest of the human race loses the ability to see...because he was in the hospital recovering his eyesight at the time the plant-aliens fooled the entire human race into watching a spectacular display of shooting stars that later blinded them.
@hey_oblomov Thanks. Yes, it went well and it's better than the alternative. My eyesight is a little blurry right now and will be a bit light-sensitive for a couple of days, but it's better already. Right now it just feels like it's bruised and the only time it really hurts is if I try to focus on something.
@MykeCroft Gotcha. I'm actually surprised that I've never seen that since I like sci-fi and classic movies so much. I need to remedy that.
