The best advice I ever got from my father was to go to grad school right after college...otherwise I'd never do it.

The best thing I ever did was take time off before going to graduate school. If you don't think you're ready, plowing through is not going to be of service to you. Grad school is not one of those things anyone should do unless they absolutely WANT to. So while I appreciate the whole "do it now or lose motivation" theory, grad school's one of those things that requires self-motivation. If you don't have it, your dad telling you otherwise ain't gonna give it to you.
