the problem with the tech he's talking about is that it is extremely expensive to purchase and operate.

as well people get right freaked out about mri's. They're noisy, you can't move, and you're in a very tight space. However the idea of being able to manipulate brain activation through real-time knowledge is pretty fucking fantastic. It's stuff that people thought might be possible, and it really is! we're all going to be cyborgs! wicked!

Hell yeah! Neurofeedback should be in every home by now! I think Timothy Leary is crying tears of joy from heaven about this!

brainwave stimulation by way of binaural beats, btw, is pretty widely available over the internet. I use one from bwgen.com. While the free version doesn't allow you to download new presets, you can make your own and I *think* record it to .wav (convert to .AAC in itunes so you can load it on your iPod, or it will take up WAY to much space).

...

it's an auditory illusion.

Like a magic eye for your brain.

I don't get the fascination.

alteration of consciousness is made slightly easier with binaural beats. That said, I'm not sure if it's the sound that does it or if it's simply the fact that one lays back, relaxing (which is not done usually) and listens to this sound *thinking* it's going to alter their consciousness more easily. I have no idea, I'm just an amateur brain hacker!

I would love to read some articles on this, but I can't access my old university account. Makes me sad.
