Check out the Olympus E-510

You get the camera and two lenses for around $500, which is a steal of a deal.

Huh, I thought you might have had one already.

www.dpreview.com will be your friend. I highly recommend the Nikon D40x (or its very simliar cousin the Canon Rebel XTi) both can be found now in super cheap packages that include 2 lens for about $500-$700.

I hate it when that happens.

It stinks when it's your doctor, though. How many pills, when? What?

"entry level" say.....buy used.... i have had alot of luck with used cameras. most folks smart enough to sell them took care of them and if you look in the paper you might get other things with it (tri-pod and the like) and you can talk to someone who has owned it and knows its quirks.

@manuel- I take my pictures with a shitty camera.

I have a nice old film camera, and I want to go digital with my tax return. I was thinking a little higher than the d40 (d80), and I was checking out a pentax with Lady of the nice rack. I liked the pentax, it seemed pretty solid/good value, but damn do I need to do some research.

Go ahead and go for the jump. I'm finding myself already out growing my D40x. Double check though to see where the focus lens motor is on that one. I totally didn't notice that the D40x requires the lenses have the focus motor /inside/ the lens to enable AF. I was kinda upset when I bought my 55mm 1.8 to discover that will always be MF on my D40x. But it's only helped me to hone in my focusing, which needs ALL KINDS of help in dark spots.

I'm forced to use auto focus because I can't see for shit.

It sucks.

Most cameras will let you adjust the viewfinder to properly focus for your eyes, but how does that work if you can't focus on an object?
