Jose Gonzalez just rocked.....the San Diego Woman's Club! What odd/interesting places are considered music venues in your neck of the wood?

I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar with the First Unitarian Church in Philly... maybe. It's been home to punk and hardcore shows since the 90's. Now R5 Productions puts on lots of their shows there, and it's basically indieverything.
What used to be MOST common around here, was for the punx to rent fire company social halls. Half the time, that ended in disaster. I'm not sure if it's still as common or now, since... I'm like, old. And not in the scene anymore.
OH, and I hope it's still running, but I'm not sure... There used to be a two-day PUNKFEST up in the north of the state, in a roller rink. Punkfest was a lovely event. Everyone was really great and just one big family. I saw some really great bands there, and there always seemed to be a pickup game of kickball going on on the other side of the rink. NICE.

I've seen Bill Cosby do stand-up at Mountaineer Racetrack and Casino in Newell, WV.
