Dude, the Devils getting Kovy is a huge game changer. It moves them out of the group of "slightly flawed Cup contender" to the group of Cup favorites with the Caps, Sharks, and Hawks.
And I also don't want to see Marty go - best goaltender in history. He made some shitty-to-average teams good, and some good teams great. Plus, he beat the Red Wings for two cups, and that's good for a lifetime pass in my book.

It is a monster signing for the Devil's now that they have two bonadfide snipers. Also Kovalchuk's one flaw, lack of defensive play, is pretty much mitigated by the fact that the Devil's play rock solid D.
It's just an ODD move though, I mean he's purely a rental. There's no way in hell lou lamoriello is going to sign him to the long term 11 million a year deal he was looking for during talks with the thrashers. And the Devil's have almost never played the rental game, so this is why the Marty rumors are popping up. I don't think anyone WANTS to see him go considering he's having one of his best seasons ever now but also it'd be nice to see him go out on top and not fade away like Ed Belfour.

Yeah, that doesn't sound like anything I've ever heard of them doing before. But winning cures all ills, maybe a Stanley Cup would lower his asking price for a few years.
