Strangest movie you've ever seen? But it must be a decent flick to watch. I'm gonna go with Gozu by Takashi Miike.

my knee jerk reaction is eXIztenze or whatever it was...came out around the same time as Matrix...

but Im pretty sure I've seen stranger, I'm just drawing a blank.

El Topo comes to mind, but I'm sure I've probably seen stranger films that would be excluded on your decency clause.

Taxidermia is pretty peculiar too.

holy shit i just looked up that human centipede movie

now I am unhappy.

@Archer: People always throw eXistenZ in a strange movie list, but I have it and I don't find it all that strange... Maybe I'm just jaded.

@Make Art: Yeah Alejandro is good for strange ones, although I think Holy Mountain tops El Topo, I kind of... 'get' El Topo on some levels, so the strangeness isn't there as much. And yes, Taxidermia! I rented it from the video store, I didn't see that one coming, did you find it creepy like I did?

@Awkward: Whoa! Now THAT sounds like a movie I have to see!

@Marcle: I'm picking up an Ichi The Killer-esque vibe about that movie from what I can get off imdb...?

Les Revenants is a French zombie movie. It was extremely entertaining, but there was definitely something lost in translation, because I did NOT understand the ending. I recommend it, though.

I just saw Gozu tonight. It was weird, funny, and gross. Sort of David Lynch meets asian extreme. I'm still not sure what the *weirdest* movie I've ever seen was.

Begotten - that's black and white freakout from the early 90s.

Mister C. Raven said, (117 days ago)

oh, yeah.

Lost Highway.

Mothers Angel said, (117 days ago)

All stuff by David Lynch, pretty much.

Brothers Quay stuff, too.

But then their work was avant-garde/experimental from the very beginning, so I don't know if it counts.

Coin-Operated Boy said, (117 days ago)

@Partyanimal: Yerrr I like Lynch a lot! I'll have to look into Brothers Quay...

@Jeepster: I suppose I really wanna know your fave weird movie. One that you would definitely watch again.

I dunno--Eraserhead? Visitor Q? Anything by Guy Maddin?

Jeepster said, (116 days ago)

I don't remember much of eraserhead, though, just an overwhelming feeling of weirdness. I was tripping balls when I first saw it. Not a good idea.
