I just want to point out that I got to wear a cape in high school. I am not ashamed, I AM PROUD.

The girl directly next to me is my first love, Laura. The girl next to her is my friend Jackie Martin.

Missing from this photo is the eyeliner I wore most days.

AND SPEAKING OF HIGH SCHOOL, I just ran into a guy on the elevator who graduated in the class before mine. It was really awkward.

Ben, you played the euphonium?? Shit, I was section leader. My bearded future was not yet laid out before me, however.

I played Tuba/Sousaphone, although I played euphonium freshmen year because I skipped band-camp to go to lollapalooza and see Living Colour and they ran out of Sousaphones and gave them to people who showed up.

MmeLP plays/played tuba too.

I loved the euphonium. Relatively easy to play, big noise, simple parts.

The Assistant Drum Major was mostly a make-believe position the band director gave me out of pity because I was so disappointed not to become the REAL drum major even though I was drastically more qualified than the SOPHOMORE that actually DID become drum major.

I am still pissed off about that!

But my duties basically amounted to stepping out of formation in certain parts of our performance to conduct so that the outer spiral arms of the band could still see what was going on.

EVER the TRENDSETTER, this photo demonstrates that Ben Brown preconceived the whole "High School Musical" phenomenon 12 years prior.

I also was ADM and tuba/sousaphone player.
