Twigby! Skanko! I can't be bothered to sift through all the crappy 90's music I don't care about... howabout them fights tomorrow? Carano vs Cyborg, whatcha think?
Replies
Hi Jay! I have been MIA internet-wise ever since I quit my job, because my lappy is having problems.
That and GTI and I sort of lost our spark. Our romance. Our heat.
BTW, the fact the boys always post about the BOY FIGHTS, yet fail to post about the most exciting girl fight in forever is a little, DARE I SAY IT... GAAAAAY.
That's because boys don't like to think about girls who are tougher than them.
hey 'sup TIff, I didn't respond 'cos you posted this at 2:30 IN THE MORNING!
Anyways, as for the fight, I don't know TONS about the fighters, haven't seen much of their fights, but I think Cyborg has the advantage. Striking wise they're pretty comparable for the most part but Cyborg has the BJJ training to take it on the ground. Also I think she fights with level of agression Gina isn't use to. Furthermore I don't know how well prepeared Gina will be coming into this fight, remember her last two Elite XC fights she came in NOT making weight. I would hope she wouldn't take this fight as lightly but we'll see.
Also I don't think they're showing this fight in Canada so i can't get super pumped about it. Also I don't know how I "feel" about Female MMA, it's definite;y a sport in its infancy. It's clearly inferior on a "technical" level, mostly because these girls are new and are still developing, but I do love the spirit of the matches. There's definitely a lot more action, a lot more strikes in the female MMA fights i've seen.
ALSO i forgot to add if Gina does lose, I think it'll be a "good loss" barring some sick injury. I think it'll be something like Couture after being knocked out by Lidell or GSP being knocked out by Matt Serra and we'll put things in perspective and she'll come back tougher for it based on her attitude and such.
Woah twigby covered it allll. And I just didn't post because I didn't even know it was happening.
Yeah at first glance it looks like cyborg would take her, but ginas been pretty tough and resilient and I want her to pull this one out
hey, does Gina ever get her nose broken?
are there pictures?
*sigh*
oh well
lemme know when someone like Nicole Bass bashes her face in, because I'm down to see that
this is a pay per view right??
i'm gonna be at a show anyway (which is also why I'm missing the first weekend of Premier League. . blah)
mmmhmmm. . . . . . . .ha ha ha ha ha
*ready o be totally disappointed*
You won't be disappointed, Cory. I promise. It's gonna be ridiculously awesome.
And I think Twigby is right. Gina isn't used to well, DIFFICULTY. Cyborg is more aggressive and a lot stronger, but she never budgets her energy. She's never had to. I've never seen Gina's ground game, but Couture SAYS it's really good, so she might have an advantage there. Otherwise, idk. It would be a good loss and I just wish it was a bigger sport so the girls had more competition and more to do.
Oh and from what I understand, they have both had weight issues lately. I think this is 145 lb match and Gina is usually at 155.
Yeah I know Carano has been working with Xtreme Coture to develop her wrestling but as stated we haven't seen it so we can never say for certain. What we can say is she has good take down defense, 'cos Kelly Kobold kept trying in her last match and got like 1 take down only, I think.
I do like how Strikeforce is trying to develop the sport for females though (more so than what can be said about Dana White and the UFC.) Like I said I think the fights are very spirited compared to a LOT of men's matches but yeah the biggest issue is compeition is thin. That said that was pretty much the UFC both when it started and when it started to go more towards "MMA" today as we know it in the early 2000's.
Dana White's been talking about carano a little bit but to be honest i think he's too macho to bring them in.
Gina Carano vs. Wolf

I wanna be a fighter. Not to fight in like, ring fights. I just wanna learn, just in case.
no broken nose, but a couple of nice dents
i await the tears of unfathomable sadness (they're so yummy and sweet)
"we would like to speak with gina carrano but she is still meeting with her doctors to see how much rhinoplasty will cost"
Yeah Mousasi was done in like less than a minute, right? I loved his demeanor, he was like "oh it's done? k"
Yeah! He walked in totally bored, like "OH. We're fighting? Ok, whatever."
It was like Mousasi knew he was going to kick the other guy's ass, or took a handfull of Xanax before the fight, one or the other.
Mousasi was bad ass.
Gina was just too timid, although i think as a ref you need to know there the amt of time left and not call it with less than a second to go.
that being sad, she got WHOOPED. i want to console her and nurse her back to health.
The ref should call it whenever it needs to be called. I don't think it should matter, she was done. Notice she pulled a Griffin and stayed back in the locker room with her doctor the rest of the post-fight? She was hurt and that fight didn't need to continue. She was out of her element.
As for being timid, I don't think any amount of aggression would have saved her that night. If anything, it would have just messed up that pretty face of hers.
I wanna see Cyborg fight men. Also, I think her husband and her are sooo cute. It was weird, she looked almost feminine at the end when she was on his shoulders and smiling.
the ref should've let Gina get pounded on until time was officially up

I'm torn, because I like them both. I don't want Gina's record to get destroyed, but if anyone's gonna do it, Cyborg will. So beastly and awesome.
