I saw Star Trek and it was really fun. Also, an adventure.

First theatre we went to, the sound was kaput. Everyone walked out and demanded money back, and they wouldn't give it to us, or even start the movie up again--they gave us 2 movie passes to the theatre, but my friend doesn't even live around here and most other people didn't want to go back to that dump anyway.

We were really pissed because it was late and we wanted to see the movie DAMMIT. So as lark to burn off energy we went to Loews and told them our tale of woe. Amazingly, they let us in even though their theatre was already closed. (My brilliant contribution to Our Tale of Woe: "I mean, look at me! I'm wearing a tunic as a dress without pants, and go-go boots! Why did I do this if not for this movie?" I was saying that for laughs but it actually seemed to convince them somehow.) They gave us their own movie passes and told us to go to Regal, which had a midnight showing.

And then Regal's managers were nice enough to let us in with Loews's passes. And we saw it and it was good.

Wow, that sounds like quite a journey! That was really cool of them to let you in. So the movie was good, huh?

It was fun. :-) Eye-rolling at times, but I guess that's part of the charm.

As long as it's the right kind of eyerolling and not like a Michael Bay movie that's making me sick because the camera won't stop shaking! My friends wanted to go tonight but they went at midnight and I need to be asleep just about now, not at 3 AM. Work tomorrow would be impossible!

I caught a showing last night, too. I was a fan. I don't think Quinto *owns* the Spock role, yet, but he'll be there by the next one. Chris Pine was perfect as Kirk, though.

And damn, we need more Simon Pegg.

I watch Star Trek for three things:

- Heavy-handed utopian moralizing.
- Old people in space with TERRIFIC chemistry who crack jokes.
- Long, slow shots of the Enterprise for no reason.

Space battles are boring. Does this movie have any of my desires?

i like how mike summed up why I hate Star Trek

I can already tell that this is going to be one of those movies everyone else loves, and I frown at. HARD.

I see no cleverness in the advertising for this film. Just an overbearing soundtrack and non-stop guns blazing.

It reportedly also is all setup for a sequel...boring!

there's suppose to be a lot of kirk and spock tension, LIKE A STRAINING BROMANCE!

Oh boy oh boy.

i saw it yesterday, too... it's good.

what i didn't like was all of the 'coincidences' plus some silly choices... that spock throws kirk off of the ship, that kirk just happens to be dropped right by old spock, that spock never bothered to walk to the federation outpost, that the black hole sucked both ships back in time, and that the villain waits for spock's ship for 25 years.

I predict lots and lots of Klingons for the next one.
