What ever happened to Toadies?
Let's forget Hell Below, Stars Above.Replies
i thought the singer started burden brothers. i haven't heard it in a while, but it was pretty much the toadies.
Holy shit, the last album made it to 59 on the Billboard charts. I'd never expect that.
They're touring this summer!
I got to see them the last tour before they disbanded back in the early 00's. It was phenomenal.
interestingly, i drove past a marquee the other day that I believe said they were appearing last night -- but then it said "postponed" today. i didn't remember any of their songs, though (til now)
Naah, I liked Hell Below, Stars Above. and Burden Brothers, for that matter. I love that fucking band. (one of the methods by which I snared my incredible better half: karaoke of Possum Kingdom)
Toadies is one of those bands like Hum, where I feel like the quality of their output will tragically always outstrip the recognition/appreciation that they achieve as a result. In a sense it's always nice to find an incredible band that hasn't hit it big yet, but in another sense it's always sad when that band has been at it for 15 years and been overlooked because of the vagaries and fickle, unrefined taste the average American music consumer.
Anyway. Modern Toadies to me is one of those bands like the Breeders, who will keep putting out quality albums every few years, but never really recapture that magic. And I can't blame them, I'd be chasing it too. I don't think they'll ever blow up, but god bless them for it
@scurvyman See, I thought Hell Below, Stars Above had good songs, but overall, it just disappointed me. It made me sad. That was the problem. They're EXACTLY like the Breeders, you're right. The Deal sisters are definitely never going to make another Last Splash.

they came out with an album last year
didn't hear it though
