All the shows I like are going to cancelled, aren't they?

Finally decided that, although it still has a lot of problems, yes, I like Dollhouse after the last ep. Of course just as soon as I get actually invested in the story, it turns out Joss Whedon's giving interviews on how he's resigned to it not being renewed.
"Chuck," despite always having about 20 plot holes (or plot craters, sometimes) per episode still remains my favorite thing on tv by FAR. It's always just an absolute, grin-inducing pleasure to watch, its end-of-the-season ramp-ups are incredibly compelling, and it does that thing that SO FEW shows know how to do--have a planned, directed arc for each season, that allows the show to always feel like it's really GOING somewhere, and have the next season's arc build off the previous season's one, so we move forward in character development rather than treading ground. Annnnnd even though it's like the only show to make me think "yes! You are using the season format as it should be used!" apparently it's more likely that it'll get cancelled than not.
You think Chuck's going to get cancelled? I thought it was doing pretty well this season, although I really don't keep up with that kind of thing.
I feel your pain, though. I feel like NBC made the decision to pull the plug on Kings like two weeks ago.
I've been watching Chuck since I've been in Rhode Island and it has reignited my guilty pleasure in campy, silly, unpretentious fluff TV. I am turning into a "normal" again, oh no.
I hope Kings can stick around, but I doubt it. It was way underhyped and seemed to be advertised as something that they never expected to have work. The ratings reflect this.
I will be very very upset if "Chuck" doesn't get renewed. :-( Even more so after reading that the creator says he's going to end this season on a game-changing "what-happens-next?" bang as he always intended the season to end, without making any hasty attempts to wrap up the story just-in-case.
I'm sad about this not because I'll be left hanging, but because it is precisely what I approve of--which just shows again how well this show works for me. I used to like "Pushing Daisies" but a) the characters stopped evolving, b) it wasn't following through on any previously dropped plot threads, b) now I hear the last 3 unaired episodes will be aired over the summer, and Bryan Fuller attempted to do some quick patch-up work on them to give them some sort of ending. I don't even care if I see those episodes, I hate that sort of thing: if that's not where the ending was meant to go, don't shove it in there and ruin everything! Leave the story some dignity, even if that means it's unfinished.
"Chuck" seems to get me on this. Sigh. "Chuck" and I click. We're meant to be together! But no, evil networks will drive our love apart.
Well, tonight's episode was definitely setting up some "this show is definitely going to deviate for a while" cliffhanger action. The problem with this setup is that not many writers realize that you can't COMPLETELY change the nature of a show on a whim. Yes, it may be interesting for them to go rogue or do something/go somewhere unexpected, but people love that show for the Buy More silliness as much as the super-spy silliness, and ditching that for SERIOUS PLOT DEVELOPMENTS is a good way to find yourself losing viewers.
@scurvyman Yeah, people are talking about its cancellation like it's a done deal.

@A Better Version I love campy, silly fluff tv! Because it's actually extremely hard to do campy, silly, fluff tv RIGHT, so that it's entertaining but not shameful.
Also, eh, Chuck is kinda known for resolving "big" plot points in the very next episode (partially due to the whole cancellation thing). And they're certainly not throwing the Buy More plots away--tonight's episode did a game-changing development on that too, that's not going to get dropped. I certainly don't see the completely changing anything on a whim--the creator said that they'd plotted it out through season 3 at the conception of season 2, so it's more like direction changes that play into an overall storyline.
I am irritated that Chuck has Buster Bluth playing Buster Bluth except with both hands intact and a different name.
@A Better Version - KINGS' days are numbered, sadly. i read last week that they're bumping it to Sat. nights, which is essentially a series television dead zone
Yeah, Saturday nights are definitely the kiss of death. Alas. I think if it weren't so intense so early on, it might have had a chance. They really tried doing a lot of interesting things all at once, and it comes off as overwrought and pretentious rather than hinting at the depth and complexity they're obviously trying for.
yeah, the whole reason i'm taken with it is that it feels unique and unlike most anything that's on tv, certainly that's on network television. it reminds me a bit of ROME, which i loved and also wasn't received all that well.
Chuck is stupid, cancel it already
who saw parks and recreation?
that was pretty cool
@A Better Version Quiet you!
@0thoughtcrimespree0 I like it enough to watch it again. It's better than Kath and Kim. That show was painful to watch.
they aren't talking about cancelling fringe are they? its in the OLD house spot, thats a great spot for ratings, and its a pretty interesting show. plus i think they give jj abhrams pretty much anything he wants.
fringe is in no way of being canceled, it's one of the biggest successes of the season, it actually has more viewers now then its debut
Fringe IS awesome. they hooked me when the old man peed his pants in the first episode.
@Bmanda - now see, I knew that wasn't gonna be worth anything, because my Molly went blonde.
blondes lose
@twigby - my old roommate was all pissy becasue he thought Fringe was getting cancelled, and I'm like "wait. . . why do you think that?"
Fox moved it to Friday night, didn't they??
. . .okay, I don't see why people think it's gonna get cancelled then.
what night is Dollhouse on?
@0thoughtcrimespree0 The commercials and ads made me think it wasn't going to be so bad. I should have known by how much advertising they did.

If you like Chuck, Fringe, and Dollhouse -- probably.
Otherwise, no idea.
