I'm considering becoming a vegetarian, any advice?

I became a vegetarian the same way I later quit smoking- by cutting out a little at a time and not punishing myself for "slip-ups". One day, I was ready to stop entirely, on both counts.
I was a vegetarian for eleven years. One thing it taught me was how to cook. Oh, and also? It can be much cheaper (again, if you don't eat takeout all the time) to be vegetarian.
The one thing that would keep me from going back at this point in my life would be sushi.
Stay out of North Carolina!

Look at those cartoon pigs! So delicious!
My weakness was pork sausage on pizza. Get all bacon out of the house?
@Leanne Thanks. I don't eat much meat anyway.
@Xenu This is a reasonable way to go about it. Thanks. I don't go out for sushi that often. And there are *some* veg options.
@mikkoman That's easy.
@Khaaaaan I've never liked bacon. Gasp, I know.
I've only been a veggie for a few years, but I haven't looked back. I feel a lot healthier, and feel better about what I'm putting in my body.
Get a good cookbook or two. I recommend Mollie Katzen's Moosewood cookbook, but only the original edition. The newer versions replaced all the cheese and butter and sour cream with silken tofu, and the food isn't as good. Also, if you can find one, subscribe to a CSA food co-op or shop in farmer's markets. You'll be exposed to better produce and find new ways to work with it.
If jesus Hercules Christ had wanted you to subsist on rabbit food, he would not have invented slim jims.

THUMBS UP
i promise you wont miss meat as much as you think you will.
