Instead of doing homework, I did this:

Update on life:
BAD:
1. I never sleep
2. Thesis is due IN FIVE DAYS (WAHHHHHHHH!) (OMFG)(See number 1)
2. I need to have an upper GI endoscopy/biopsy because I'm still sick sick sick
Good:
1. I have a benefactor now (no joke)
2. I'm so so SO SO EFFING HAPPY with my life, especially with being single and not dating that dude anymore. Uff.
3. I graduate in two months!
4. I might be the graduation speaker (no joke)
5. I'm moving to India in three months
6. I'm going to to research/write health care policy for the Indian government. (WTF?)
7. I'll be back in the US in September looking for jobs. No more school for a while! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
In summary: GOOD > BAD
love it.
why is it that projects done in the name of avoiding homework are always so awesome... and then you feel like you can't show it to anyone who knows you really should have been doing homework.
who's your benefactor? a sugar daddy? nah, couldn't be... you're obviously too smart and awesome to need a sugar daddy.
Yeah, I wanna know more about the benefactor! And you can get through the work, I know it.
So I filled out this scholarship application for the office of Alumni Development over a year ago.
I got a call last week saying that this alumni couple had selected me to receive a grant that will go towards my student loan debt. (It works out to about 10% of my debt!)
They're wonderful - I googled them - they give tens of thousands of dollars a year to different arts organizations, NPR, etc.
Anyway, I'm going up to NY in a few weeks to meet them at a big fancy party. Very excited!
ok, i really want to think this is not at all weird.
just, you know, if they're really drunk when you meet them you might want to be careful.
They actually chose three other students, and we're splitting a large sum of money... All of the scholarship/grant recipients are traveling up to NY together, so I feel comfortable with it.
I know what it might sound like though. :)

Also I called Jesse and sang her some Luther Vandross on the voicemail.
