SXSW 2009 bands are up
http://sxsw.com/music/shows/bands/ This list is overwhelming! Help me pick who to go see!!!Replies
Les Handclaps (Montreal QC)
... I was supposed to be in this band... but I got a job.
well I was supposed to try out for it.
I don't know them, but they sound good.
Huh...one of my friend's bands said they're heading out to sxsw, but I'm not sure if they're playing or just going to go see it/make connections.
Anyway, if you happen to get wind that theSTART is playing somewhere, please go have yourself a wonderful time and bring your dancing shoes.
www.myspace.com/thestart for a preview of them.
Last year I made a spreadsheet, and really, that's the only way to do SXSW and not go completely insane... but looking at the list for the first time always flips me out. I think I need to print it out and write on it. I can't get past the Bs right now.
Make every effort to see Buck65 - that guy is fantastic. Also, Margaret Cho is on the list, that's gotta be good. Local SF band Scissors for Lefty ain't bad either.
I saw Scissors for Lefty last year! I'm guessing Margaret Cho will do a big outside day show like Janeane Garofalo did last year, so if it works with my schedule, I'll definitely try to make that.
dude ABSU!!!!(seeing them at maryland death fest. . . .i am hearing about a lot more metal bands playing this than I used to), COLISEUM!! FUTURE OF THE LEFT!! (I wondered when the hell they'd come to the US) and I didn't know Superdrag were still together.
Devil Wears Prada!??!!?
I saw "A Day to Remember" on there too, Victory Records is showcasing, aren't they?

As cool as it would be to see Andrew Bird, everyone and their dog will be there, so I wouldn't pick him.
Also, don't got see The Devil Wears Prada. They're a local band and I find them arrogant and obnoxious.
I'm a huge fan of Justin Townes Earle--he's super folk/alt. country and all around talented.
