To all the Tom Waits fans out there: What is your favourite Tom Waits album?
Replies
Dammit I saw Swordfish Trombones today. I ended up buying Spun though... so that's forgivable.
I love Tom Waits, but honestly I can not name one of his albums. I kind of fell in love with him as an actor first.
So my favorite film appearance of Tom Waites would have to be the Jamaixca fishing excursion with John Lurie, seconded by his character in Down By Law. The Coffee and cigarettes bit with iggy Pop was rad but him fishing with John is the best. And I have Tanya to thank for even knowing about Fishing With John.
OLDER
I think Frank's Wild Years is totally essential, classic, possibly the very best. Heart Attack and Vine is pretty classic too. Big Time gives a pretty awesome cross section of the other albums.
NEWER
Real Gone is fascinating and fun amongst the newer albums. The Black Rider is pretty amazing too - a collaboration with the poet William Borroughs.
LESS GOOD
I think Closing Time and Foreign Affairs will be a little boring if you like the style of Raindogs.
@khaaaaaaan: He also made a cameo in Domino as a roaming preacher, and there's one of his songs on the soundtrack. I never realized for ages that it was him though.

I like the Rain Dogs album, but wanting to know what other albums I absolutely MUST buy...
