How do you tie your shoes?
Replies
Uh...hm. I meant, that's what I wear. Not, "you guys are loafers because you only know one way to tie your shoes." Eep.
Haha I understood what you meant!
I know both ways, I just can't do the single loop around "grown up way" well at all.
I do the loop wrap-around thing...however, a few years ago, a girl I used to work with taught me to add a second loop before tightening it. This makes it (from my experience) so that the knot doesn't come loose. But it also allows you to easily pull it loose.
Like many things, I had a hard time learning to tie my shoes because I am ambidextrous. I used the bunny ear method until I was probably 7 or 8, but now I am a full time loop around user.
I still use the bunny ears but that is if I am not wearing flip flops.
i don't tie my shoes, i prefer pumps or slip-on flats.
when i do wear tie shoes, i get my manservant to tie them.
@ Jay- imagine being a little kid, still developing logic skills, and you can't automatically differentiate your left from your right based on feel...
@arialsara - Yeah, that makes sense. I guess it's one of those things you don't think about unless you experience them.
@ Jay- yeah, exactly. It's not a bad thing, I'm usually really appreciative of being ambi, but it did take me a looooong time to learn my left from my right.
arielsara; I have dysgraphia, which is presents similar issues. However, you know by feel and you know the difference but you can't tell you hands what right and left are.
I'm not sure what I am. I do most things left-handed. But I throw and play guitar right-handed. It was irritating for my parents when I first started playing baseball, because they just assumed they could buy me a left-handed mitt. Nope.
I guess I'm just confused.

I've never been able to make a good knot without doing bunny ears...
I never successfully graduated to the one loop wrap around.
