Rant about work - here. :)
Last night, one of the two people I work with called in sick. [I tutor College students and already have a busy load on my own on Mondays] The other person isn't schedule to work the first hour so I asked my "boss" to come in and help. "Oh, well. I don't think it'll be that busy. I'm sure you'll be fine." So, not only did I have 4 scheduled students on my own - I had another three drop in. AND I had to turn a girl away because I couldn't help her RIGHT that instance. [Mind you she was upset that I asked her to leave her paper and she could come back after her other tutoring appointments and that I'd eventually get to it. She refused to leave her paper. So one of the Grad Assistants that SHOWS UP bit the bullet for me and helped her.] It's the last week of the class. My "boss" knows this. He's taught before and he knows that students from the woodwork always show up last minute at the end of the semester. So, why the fuck does he have to go and be a assface and try to play it off. Today I left him a nice little facebook message that I had 11 students [which is probably actually lower than what it was] last night. Oh, and I only work three hour shifts. And my typical Monday was only 5 students until recently he just stopped showing up to tutor two girls at 8 so I got stuck with them cause I tutor them on Thursday. None the less I'm still pissed I tutored 6 [almost 7] students just in my first hour instead of my normal 2. Argh. I don't get paid enough to pay individual attention to that many students.

@oimoi - That's why I'm hoping I get my dream job. Teaching 5 classes, but it's tenure track in the most beautiful city in California. *swoon*

Well, I'm waiting on getting paid. It was due Friday. Might not happen until THIS Friday. I can pay rent but not buy groceries.
This is the 3rd late payroll (WITH reduced pay schedule) in a row.

Apparently, money will be in the account on Friday. I can live on a few cans of soup and pasta until then.
My first tutoring position was unpaid, because "no one needs tutoring in Latin 1." 8 people showed up the first day, and it continued that way every week. I was a sophomore in college back then. Now I'm an adjunct and I barely have that many people to a section. Sigh.
