my family always did colorful lights and lots of toys and playful things. we had a very juvenile tree when i was growing up... and my adult tree doesn't seem to be maturing much, though i might switch to white lights this year.

My family does the same, but if I'm decorating for myself, I think the simple stuff is more serene... which I kinda need in my life. :)

We do white lights, colourful glass ball ornaments and silver tinsel and beads. And an ever increasing array of knicknacky ornaments. We let the wee one choose a new ornament each year. This year, it's Foofa from Yo Gabba Gabba.

i hate it when it gets to "colourful" like when i was growing up. we threw out all our ornaments last year and i got some new ones. it's a very "mature" tree

I like silver tinsel and white lights, OR if I have the option of on of those white plastic trees blue lights and silver beading. but my family tells me that this makes me boring.
