It really depends on what you want out of your video game system. If you ever want to do online gaming, then the choice is very obvious: Get a 360. XBL is hands down the best supported online system on the consoles - PS3's doesn't even come close. The 360 is also the cheapest system out there, along with having the largest library. The PS3 has the added benefit of a Blu-Ray player out there, which adds to its value. The Wii is best for the "casual" gamer with the best library of exclusive titles (Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc). However, if I remember correctly, I think I read that Rock Band is a little borked on the Wii compared to other systems.

x-box 360 if you intend on branching out into the gaming world at all, it has a very solid game library and xbox live is amazingly robust.
ps3 if you do not intend on branching out beyond the rockband/guitar hero world - purely because it really is the best blu-ray player out there.
wii is good and all, but...meh.

It's all about what you want to do.
MUP and CR make some great points.
There is also Little Big Planet, which is an amazing game for the PS3, and practically screams: I am for everyone! The 360, for all it's bonuses, does not have a game that is even close to it. That said, if you want to hook up with lots of players, the 360 has more users (I doubt I could get anyone from this site to play LBP with me, but if I get Left 4 Dead, there will be people I 'know' to play. It matters)
The Wii is an amazing thing that has no truly awesome games for it. Yes it gets people involved in an interesting way, but unless you're interested in dancing in your underwear, or reliving your nostalgic fantasies, who gives a fuck? The Wii is a party machine; if you do not have a party available, it's not so hot. If you do, it's head + shoulders above any of your other choices.
The library for the PS3 is a lot deeper, b/c it'll play PS2 games, so you can play older stuff, but the 360 will have more games for it on the cheap (Read, used) so...
I don't know that there's a wrong answer here. What you can afford matters a lot.

If Rockband is all you really care about, then get the 360.
The Wii doesn't have the capability to download extra new songs (same as ps2). The PS3 does have the blu-ray player with it but, I personally have no real need for a blu-ray player at the moment and the prices will inevitably come down.

If it's really all about Rock Band, get a PS3 or a 360 because Wii doesn't have the capacity for downloadable content.
@Superion: Give me your PSN id and I will play LBP with you whenever. Although your point is a good one that there are more people playing on XBL than PSN.
Also, I would seriously take issue with people who say that Xbox Live is better than Playstation Network because it flat isn't true. I use it all the time and just about never have problems with it. Plus it's free rather than 50 bucks a year which is flat out bullshit.
Also, I had the games library argument with someone the other day, and even though the 360 does have more titles, it DOESN'T have more really good titles. As far as really awesome exclusives are concerned, they're just about tied and this is something we're going to see going forward in the future.
Also, DON'T let the PS2 library thing be a selling point for the PS3 because GOING FORWARD PS3s DO NOT PLAY PS2 GAMES ANYMORE. THERE ARE NO MODELS CURRENTLY ON THE MARKET THAT DO THIS UNLESS YOU CAN FIND A USED 60GB OR A USED 80GB WITH 4 USB PORTS.

Artschooled and I really just want to play Rock Band, but we have no idea which one is best? What's the difference?
