Finally: Voccine podcast - Buffy Special part 2 is released! Go listen now!
http://www.voccine.comWelcome to part two of the Voccine Buffy special with Christina Jeurling and Tomas Seo. Here we continue the discussion on Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s place in the pop culture zeitgeist and talk about why the series has become a serious subject to study at university.
We start to discuss the different approaches to the vampire myth in Joss Whedon’s Buffyverse and Alan Ball’s adaptation of True Blood.
In this episode we have interviewed Dr. Rhonda Wilcox, Professor of English at Gordon College in Georgia, the coeditor of Slayage: The Online International Journal of Buffy Studies and the founding editor of Critical Studies in Television: Scholarly Studies in Small Screen Fictions.
So what happened after the Buffy series ended? Tomas and Christina discuss life after Buffy, like the season 8 comic book, the Dr Horrible project and track the careers of some of the Buffy actors, writers and creators.
We have also interviewed Scott Allie, writer and editor at Dark Horse Comics and editor of the Buffy Season 8 comic books. Joss Whedon is the Executive Producer and writer of several of the season 8 comics and many of the Buffy writers are also on board including Jane Espenson and Steven DeKnight. Scott Allie is now hard at work adapting Robert E. Howard’s (creator of Conan the Barbarian) Solomon Kane adventures.
The second Buffy Special also includes part two of our interview with writer/producer Steven DeKnight, his life after Buffy: Angel, Smallville, Dollhouse and beyond!

I feel like Violet Beauregarde when I say, as long as it's about Buffy ... and that's for me.

Very interesting. Although "Slayage" -- and I speak as a Buffy fanatic and someone who has thought quite a lot of about the literary aspects, the elastic possibilities for metaphor, in that show -- is, it strikes me, insane.
