I spent over 600 dollars on mouthpieces, reeds, and ligatures this morning.

I want to get this mouthpiece http://www.kellymouthpieces.com/trombone_small.asp
Perhaps in red, or clear. :P
Its super cheap, but I've got a few friend that have it and say its worth it. It says warm and sounds just like a regular mouthpiece.
@Manuel: Ew, they're like LA Sax horns, but brass mouthpieces. Do you have a red trombone to go with it?
And also, if you get clear, it won't be clear for very long.
@ffs- Saxophone. In the second year of my masters in classical performance. Because I plan poorly.
@pt: No, my 'bone isn't red, but it'd match the band colors. I know this mouthpiece isn't prestigious or anything, but for something fun for $24 bucks, I'll do it.
@Manuel- Eh, that's fun and works then. :) I'm not used to dealing with musicians outside of a university context. And we're all pretentious assholes here who know nothing of this "fun" you speak of.
@ffs- ASU Herberger College of Music
Aha! So, when's the next concert? I'll come and see you play, as I'm just north of you.
@ffs- I'm not in any classical ensembles right now aside from quartet. There's a jazz concert coming up, but that's at the care center or whatever the old rich people trailer park is called. I dunno when quartet is going to play, and I don't have a recital till Spring.
But his shows I can drive to. Well, I suppose I *could* drive to one of your shows, but it would take most of a day.
lol I did that a few months ago. I fucking DROPPED my stupid fucking mouthpiece i've had for years and years and it shattered ... oops! But now I have a new one that I like much much better. I should think about selling my old ligatures I don't use anymore ... they are nice and I could probably get some good cash for them.
@giu- Apparently mouthpieces have a playing life of about 3-4 years. After playing on them for about that long, the rubber goes dead and stuffy, and stuffs up certain harmonics in the sound.
Also, don't talk to me about dropping mouthpieces. :-P It doesn't have to shatter. One chip, or even some sort of internal damage you can't see and the damn things are done.
What do you play?
Sorta off topic but I thought you'd appreciate this: http://www.wired.com/culture/lifestyle/multimedia/2008/09/gallery_reader_geek_tattoos?slide=8&slideView=3
Ligatures? Seriously? I've never found a need to have more than one good ligature. Key word being "good".

I'd better sound fucking awesome at the end of this semester. Or I'm going to sell my horn and buy a room full of pocket vaginas.
