When are we going to be able to use our bodies as a power source?

One of these days, the consumer electronics manufacturers will get around to implementing inductive charging. The idea is that you have a pad full of inductor coils that you plug into the wall, and anything you place on the pad (that has a suitable coil) charges automagically, without plugging anything in.

I have to say, it would be really nice if they could invent a way to turn all those extra calories I eat into electrical energy.

And I don't mean those stationary bikes in the hands on museums that illuminate a lightbulb as you cycle.
