Most Hendrix. Especially Gypsy Eyes. Dream On by Aerosmith. November Rain by Guns N Roses. Rush and Red Hot Chili Peppers are good all around. Trampled Under Foot by Led Zeppelin.

I don't know about songs to calm me down, but when I'm tired and at work and I need some extra energy, Sing Sing Sing performed by the Benny Goodman orchestra really helps.
I found that Hot Chip "Over and Over" calmed me down.
You'd think that down tempo, soft songs, a la Dntel, or Ms. John Soda would calm me down, but they aren't really happy songs, so they don't do that job.
For me it needs to be upbeat and happy, but not loud and in my face.
