i generally dug it.
i'll reserve the bulk of my review/thoughts 'til after you see it.
the only things I'll say are:
A) i thought it was one of the most "wow...really? they went there?" movies i've seen in a long time
B) it's a little on the nose for me; as satire tends to be - pretty much every character waivers between feeling like a real human being/character, and then being a signpost/easy target/messenger for some larger issue.
but Alan Ball's done a pretty deft job of blending it all together
and the girl, Summer Bishil, is fantastic, as is the father ( it wasn't until the q and a after the screening i went to that I realized it was the guy who played the art teacher from SIX FEET UNDER)

Sounds good! Yeah I recognized the father from Six Feet Under. Thanks for the insight and I'll get back to you after i see it.
I'm surprised that Bill Maher's "Religulous" was playing in less theaters then "An American Carol"... Damn you Dennis Hopper!
