Hey, (fill in GTIer name here)! (A thread for asking questions you've been wanting answers to, but were afraid/too lazy/have simply never bothered to ask.)

Hey, Val -

You live in Louisiana, right? I can't remember if you just moved there, or have lived there most of your life.

Anyway, my main question: do you have a southern accent?

Garak said, (57 days ago)

Hey, Celisse -

Your photo: who is it of? If it is not you, where does it come from?

Garak said, (57 days ago)

Hey, Art -

What nationality are you?

(this question comes partially out of the fact that for some reason i had assumed you were asian - i think this goes back to a period where you, JasAsian, and one of the other Asian dudes were all responding to my posts...sorry to have lumped you in like that, man)

Hey, Garak-

How is your leg?

Garak said, (57 days ago)

oh, hey Art (the other art, as it were, the cuter one - uh, sorry Art)

My leg is getting better. Stings/aches a little, but it's in a boot now, which is keeping it pretty firm/solid, and it's a little easier to get around on, in that if i whack it on something or happen to put weight on it, it's not as bad as just having my wrapped-up leg out there, which is what i had for the first two weeks.

still a giant pain in my ass, because getting around and doing even the simplest daily tasks takes much longer than it should. (showering is a particular pain, because i have to double-bag the leg to keep it dry.) and i get a lot more tired than i'd've expected moving around on crutches.

but, things are healing like they should, so i can't really complain.

i'll just be glad when i can walk like a normal human being again! (four weeks or so, and counting)

thanks for asking!!

Hey, Art(schooled) -

How's Canada?

Where do you live in Canada, again?

I was just up in Toronto, and was reminded of how much i dig your country is why i ask...

artschooled said, (57 days ago)

Garak: I'm glad your leg is healing well-- although it's tough, it's so the most important part! The better it heals, the less likely it will haunt you for the rest of your lifetime. Keep good spirits! Four weeks is nothing, you'll be right. I'm glad to hear that although its horrible, you're almost through!

Canada is good. It's been interesting to be back home. I live in British Columbia [west coast], in the Rocky Mountains. I love it here heaps, but it looks like I'll be moving soon! You should go to Vancouver. Much better than Toronto. You went to the film fest, yeah?

Garak said, (57 days ago)

@Artschooled - thanks!

yeah, for the fest. I have been to Vancouver, actually. two weeks, a few years ago. loved it! we're actually going back to shoot another movie there in a month or so. looking forward to going back up there and hopefully getting to explore a bit more! (though i wish we weren't going smack in the middle of winter)

where are you moving to? Australia? i'm afraid i was a bit sidetracked during the time your man was in town. i did see a few posts and it seemed like you had a wonderful time though, and i'm glad. :)

Hay, Garak!

I feel so flattered to be first on your list. I have lived in Louisiana my whole life, minus the bits where I was in other places (3 years in New York, various weeks in other places). After I graduated from NYU, I moved back, which may be why you're thinking I just moved here.

I have a slight Southern accent, I think. In Louisiana, most people think I'm from other places (Russia, Minnesota, Denmark, etc), but in New York, people thought I had an accent. It fluctuates, I guess. Do you need me to have one?

love,
Val.

Hey, Garak:

I've never gotten around to asking this...but what exactly is it that you do for a living? I only have a vague sense of it.

Cheers,
-j.

Garak said, (56 days ago)

Hey Val,

I don't need you to have one! Was just curious. It's weird to sort of "know" someone via the internet, then meet them or at least talk to them and go "Oh, wow...that's...not what i would've imagined." And for some reason it struck me to ask this as you were posting re: your current throat situation (which, i hope, is getting better).

Anyhoo, feels like we haven't talked for a while, and let us make a habit of being GTI-interactive more often!

hope you're feeling better soon,

G

Oh hello!

My photo is of me. It comes from my digital camera.

Garak said, (56 days ago)

Hey, -j,

That's potentially because, from an outside perspective, my job can kind of be seen as vague in a way. I work in film, developing scripts and producing them (on the occasions that all the ducks are in a row and we can get a greenlight) for an independently financed company. Thus far we've made about six films, and we're shooting our 7th in Vancouver in December, and our 8th in Michigan this spring.

My job involves a lot of odds and ends, most of them creative-based, which I love and am quite frankly extremely thankful for; when all else goes to crap, and much has lately, I can always fall back on the fact that i get to do something i love.

Though, writing is my true passion, and at some point i hope to break off and write-produce my own stuff, in a Judd Apatow/JJ Abrams-ish kind of a deal.

Hey, -J -

Wow, so many questions, I dunno where to even begin.

You're quite the popular man! And yet...i don't think we've ever spoken. How odd.

Anyway, were you on Consu? As -j?

WHere are you from? What do you do when you're not GTI'ing?

Gimme the short bio on all things -j!

G.

-j. said, (56 days ago)

Oh geez.

1) Are you coming to Vancouver as part of the production? If you do, look me up.

2) Yes, I was on Consu as -j. And I agree that our interaction has been too infrequent.

3) I live in Vancouver and have done so for almost 10 years.

4) This is about as much talking about myself as I ever like to do ;)

Sincerely,
-j.

Dear Val,
I didn't notice you having a southern accent, though I do love the way you talk.

Ok, bye.
