EAGLE EYE - utterly preposterous, ultimately. But, I have to say, it was also pretty entertaining.

I liked the first hour quite a bit. From then on, it gets progressively sillier.

Somehow, it just barely avoids a complete and total implosion of ludicrousness.

I realize you're a professional and respect that, but I can't even say it was entertaining. It made "The Dark Knight" look like something out of the History Channel.

ha! s'ok...

i'll be honest, i expected to hate it. i usually hate "guy runs around with a disk or money or knowledge and people chase him for 2 hours movies". but i actually thought the first 20-30 minutes were good (i dunno, something abotu Shia, for all his cocky, "new kid on the H'wood block" antics, he comes across as likeable enough for me - and they virtually repeated the same emotional beats from the opening of DISTURBIA in terms of the brother, but, hey, it worked for me). and then the chase scene was pretty cool.

the 2nd hour - once you get to the computer and all the shenanigans surrounding it - was like a sinkhole of sillyness.

as popcorn entertainment, i was entertained. (the last sequence, though, stretched credibility the way only such movies can)

Once the computer's "motivation" is explained, the choice of using a female voice for it seems somewhat questionable, no?

I mean, shit, it made a better spoof of the Bruckheimer oevure than a doppelganger. It was akin to the South Park scenes where you saw Family Guy sequences designed by manatees.

yeah - you know, the only thing i'll say is, i actually was working on an idea once where a computer was the culprit...but it was more like, the computer registered all these facts and outcomes and calculated a pattern that humans then followed, not realizing the endgame. it was less about "i am a computer and i am a villain!"

this compu-villain fell several notches below Joshua in WARGAMES, though somehow managed to be less ridiculous than the jet in STEALTH
