Well, holy shit. I didn't realize how lucky I am to live in a state without completely effed up voting laws.

Is that a weird law? Seems like registered the day of would cause a lot more problems than necessary.
I think it would cause problems when they attempted to keep people from registering/voting twice at different venues in different states, that and making sure they have legal voting status at all.
Every polling place I've ever seen on election day was a royally disorganized clusterfuck as it is, I can't imagine giving those people one more thing to keep track of.
Eh. I've registered on voting day like three times now. It's never been a problem. (For me, anyway. Nor have I heard of huge instances of voter fraud, either.)
@ginger - yeah, that and the fact that most polling places are run by volunteers in their 70s that show up twice a year.
Personally, I think you're all crazy for not making voting compulsory anyway.
We can register and vote on the same day here only if we register between last week and Oct. 6. Voting on The Day is more exciting, but the lines are gonna be mega long, so I'm going to do the early voting, too. At least they let us do it in person and in the booths. Mail-ins are just not fun at all.
the G.O.P. loves to talk about voter fraud without providing any evidence that it ever happens.
California (well, at least San Francisco county) does too.
I'm gonna be out of town on election day, so I need to remember to drop by City Hall some time after Monday.
I think it's all over. We have places to vote early here, but you have to go in 8-5 and eff that, man.
Oh, it's "absentee in person", but you don't have to provide a reason. The in-person booth is even open Saturdays, which is good because plenty of people can't get out of work on The Tuesday. The local Dems are wildly promoting "vote early, not often" in every language they can muster.

You mean like not being able to register on election day?
