The Debate: Nothing on China? Wasn't Foreign Policy the theme?

So the debate was mostly boring as usual, since Obama and McCain made no gaffes per se.

But what about a question on China?

No discussions on how we align ourselves with the new powers in China, India, Brazil and Russia's resurgence. Instead, we're spending energy mocking Palin to the Obama choir and Obama keeps on talking about how he was originally opposed to a war that is fait accompli.

Yeah, everyone is praising Jim Lehrer, but I thought he SUCKED. It was his job, as the moderator, to get the candidates to leave their talking points memos and actually DEBATE some issues. He failed.

Why, is there anything going on in China we should care about? The Olympics are over, right?

Anyway, it was an extremely responsible move on Lehrer's part -- you never know if McCain is going to have a senior freak-out moment and say something stupid about China, they stop their lending, run from the Treasury, and possibly cause a major currency crisis.

China already owns this country, and we should thank them for letting us continue to pretend to be free.

Isn't that why there are are two (three?) more debates scheduled? Everything can't be addressed in one session.
