All-Star Superman ended this past week. there is one less reason for this world to exist now.

this was easily one of the best, compelling, most sophisticated story-telling machines of this decade.

Morrison and Quitely, for all their faults, told a really fantastic tale, one of the best Superman (or even just SUPERHERO) stories ever, vaulting the character from simply iconic to a MYTHIC status.

I am really going to miss this series.

thoughts? Art, I'm looking at you!

One more reason: the eventual trade paperback.

Overall, though, Morrison's Bat-travesty tarnishes "All Star" for me, a little. In each case, he's writing for a fanbase that by and large, is only getting older and more resistant to new and different types of heroes. I wanted to like this story, but it just seemed trite. I actually dug Geoff Johns' recent work on the in-continuity Superman book, which is a tougher trick to pull off, if you think about it.

Can we talk comics in general here?

Anybody watch that Skrull Invasion TV spot? Dopey as shit, but Marvel is promoting the hell out of that series.

Uncanny MONCHICHI said, (107 days ago)

I don't watch TV, so, no.

Does anyone read Invincible? I found #52 to be a real kick in the teeth. Not necessarily in a bad way - but... SHOCK!

I read it when I can; I'm surprised Image isn't pushing that harder for sale at, say, Borders. Did the kid brother go apeshit?

Uncanny MONCHICHI said, (107 days ago)

No. Not as such.

I mean, yes, he does accidentally kill a couple of supervillains. The problem, and the real moment, is when we realize that he doesn't really care.

i loved all star superman.

it was superman at his finest

morrison made comics fun and gave us something with imagination.

i'm tired of seeing a world right outside my window. i want to get lost in the fantastic

Ah, yes, I did read that online. Echoes of Kid Miracleman there ...

Meanwhile, here's that Skrull video I mentioned earlier:
