Dear America: I hate politics

Yup I hate politics and politicians. I don't think Barack Obama is our new political messiah, and I don't think John McCain is the maverick with the experience this country needs. Honestly they all suck. Every last one of them. I want to see some mayor in a small town in Indiana or Idaho, or some I-state like that run for president. Just some kind of common Joe...yeah so maybe he won't have fiscal, legal, or even legislative experience, but why are we soooo obsessed with all of that??? I mean c'mon that's why they have cabinets and secretaries. I just want a common person that grew up in this country that isn't crazy about killing anything be it moose or unborn babies or criminals. I want a president who will know what it's like to be an average American in 2008. Someone who works for a living, didn't go to an ivy-league school, didn't have a silver spoon in his mouth...or her mouth. Not someone with an agenda other then to serve people.... I mean aren't they supposed to be public SERVANTS???? Not these blow-hards with big egos. I want someone who knows what it's like to make minimum wage...not their parents making it, but them personally. What it's like to not have health insurance, or to see your money going to Social Security knowing that you will never see that money again. I want someone that doesn't have a private jet. I want someone that will appreciate people of all ages, colors and creeds. I want someone that will respect life...in all stages. I don't want someone that tries to gain popularity by using their sex or the color of their skin. I want someone who is fair, and honest. I want someone that will be a true LEADER...not a puppet or a psycho. I ask you, United States of America...is that tooooo much to ask for?????

I ALSO hate politics. Especially political banter on the internet.

It's making me sooo crazy. It's like ENOUGH already people....

Agreed. Though I'd take it a step father and say it should be someone who has NO political experience what so ever. I reckon they're less likely to fuck it up that way.

I just wish we'd take the power away from the central government and distribute it regionally. What's good for folks in Arkansas aren't always going to be good for folks in California. It's like, Huckabee. We always loved him as governor in Arkansas. I wouldn't want him running the entire country, but he does fine where he is.

This is absolutely ridiculous. I don't want an average joe running my country. I want someone smarter than I am, more responsible than I am, and in general someone who is a better person than I am to run my country.

Sarah Palin has been running this 'average joe' bullshit to the ground and she is a FULL-FLEDGED MORON.

I don't want an Average Joe negotiating with Putin, or with the Iranians, or having to arbiter relations between Russia and Georgia. To leave someone with no political experience and no idea what lies beyond the U.S. is at best irresponsible and at worst morally reprehensible.

Why would anyone want someone who is uneducated negotiating foreign policy??? I understand that the educated folks running the country right now aren't doing a good job. But that certainly doesn't mean we should hand the reins down to some tool who could'nt even point out Tajikistan on a map.

I agree that the bipartisan election stuff is garbage. Neither of the candidates is the ideal. But while I'm not implying that a person of humble origins is going to be some sort of country yokel, I feel that someone in a position of such a power needs to have vast amounts of experience and intellectual perspective to be able to make well-informed decisions about the country. No matter how intuitive a person is, without a sense of history, political strategy, understanding of the economy and a general well-rounded educational background, they're NOT going to be a person I want helping shape my world.

Personally, the person I want in charge should be the smartest, most brilliant person we can convince to take the job. I know a lot of average americans, hell I am one, and I wouldn't want us running the country.

Also, to be honest, I wouldn't some small towner representing me. My issues are a lot different from the issues of the suburban and rural areas. And I know we talk a lot about small town values and all that, but us city folk need some representation to. Harry Truman was the last president who came from a city with a professional sports team.

didn't the greeks have a system wherein people were chosen by lottery to take their term as governor?  i do think our campaigning process puts the emphasis on wholly the wrong stuff.

strongly disagree about political banter on the internet.  tiresome, yes.  necessary, yes.  whether we recognize it or not, we all have a vested interest in the outcome of national elections (especially the average joes, actually).  the internet is a powerful way to bring information/disinformation (yes sadly, both of those) to people in a way that's, at least so far, not totally governed by corporations like television and print media.

i just wish that everyone on the internet had better listening skills.  there's a whole lot of pontificating without willingness to consider one might be mistaken.

we need an AGNOSTIC president

we need one as soon as possible

because the fundies get everything they want under the current system, and that's bullshit.

I disagree on the average joe thing. . .unless of course by average joe you mean "wasn't born into money" and/or "is not related to anyone that's been in office before".
Both Kennedy's got shot. Both Bush's ruined life. Get the fucking nepotism out. Only ONE in each lineage. . that's it.
