And there are still meetups. They just don't have a separate section. It's anarchy.
We can also embed youtube videos (and other HTML) in Essays, though I haven't yet figured out how to do it. Image posts are nice though.

well consumating didn't always have a separate section for meetups you know! i'm just bummed i never made it to one, even after i moved to the east coast.

You'll get used to it. It has more of a small coffee shop feel than consumating did. It's definitely more intimate, although, I do miss certain features of cnsmtg, like multiple photo's (hint-hint mr ben brown)
