pit bulls are really sweet dogs. extremely trainable, kinda dumb. she's perpetuating a myth about pit bull behavior that has caused thousands of dogs to be put down.

sorry, i have very little sense of humor about this. i had to put down a pit on thursday because it was possibly dog aggressive. it had clearly been abused, and if it was dog aggressive, it was human instigated dog aggression. it's just not funny.

I definitely see your issue with people perpetuating the "pit bull = aggressive" myth. I'll chalk it up to just another thing to dislike about Palin (although, she didn't write the speech - one of Bush's speechwriters did).

My family tends to adopt rescued dogs and what cracks me up every time is that I have an uncle that will pick something that looks big and scary like a rottweiler or a mastiff. After a few days that "scary" dog becomes a giant puppy.

I liked Bill Maher's addition to her statement. He said another difference is that you can neuter a pit bull. :)

@L: of course, but the line wouldn't sound as good if he'd used spay.
