Why the media should apologize to Sarah Palin.
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13143.htmlOn behalf of the media, I would like to say we are sorry.
On behalf of the elite media, I would like to say we are very sorry.
We have asked questions this week that we should never have asked.

:-( The media SHOULD apologize.
Because aside from valid questions, there has been a PLETHORA of sexist and demeaning stuff thrown at her (quit often by women). And just because liberals don't like this particular woman, denigrating her via sexism is not okay.
I apologise in advance for posting a link to this video:

@Matt Potato: GENIUS.
Also, will your country take me in November when I throw my hands up in disgust and leave?
hahaha good one. I am sharing this with everyone I know on myspace via a bulletin.
I am especially sending it to my boss at work who is a moron. It's too bad it won't do any good. He's too afraid of taxes.
@mizzchelle - the socially centre-left but fiscally conservative republic of Ruddistan will welcome you with open arms.
@matt: Did you apologize because that video was so awesome it made me pee my pants a little bit? If so ... thank you.
@Peter - Well I didn't want to be labeled a sexist or anything so I figured I'd preemptively apologise.
@mizz - you might want to brush up on your 中文 also ;)
Dude. Matt. If your actions/beliefs sexist, apologizing is not gonna do squat. People aren't "labeled" sexist/racist/etc because they forgot to apologize.
Anyway, all that video shows to me is that both Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin got a lot of sexist crap. The fact that both of them got it doesn't make it right.
@Salomea - Well I was being facetious about apologising.
1. what the video illustrates, above everything else I reckon, is the laughable double standards being employed by republican pundits.
2. I don't doubt that Sarah Palin and Hilary Clinton have been the targets of attacks that have been rooted in some kind of misogyny. I tend to stick to more neutral, and reputable, news sources and therefore probably miss a lot of garbage. Op-eds by biased rags aren't news and lack the integrity required by stringent reporting.
To be honest I've read a lot of stuff on the net and I'm yet to find anything from a reputable source that I'd interpret as sexist. I mean I don't live in the U.S. and probably aren't subjected to the same amount of saturation coverage you are but if there's any articles you're thinking of in particular I'd like the read them.
3. Sarah Palin must be scrutinised. This is someone who has come out of left field to ask to be elected to the second highest office in the land. She stressed herself at the end of that video the importance of such scrutiny.
4. I'm not surprised that feminists have come out against her. Reproductive choice is perhaps a cornerstone of feminist ideology and Sarah Palin is pro-life to the point of outlawing abortion even for the victims of rape and incest.
@ginger - U.S. elections are pretty well covered by public media here but... ok I'll list the news sites I visit most:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/world/
http://www.pbs.org/newshour/
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/default.stm
I also listen to ABC public radio and NPR. I know these could be called left-leaning but I think they adhere to journalistic and ethical standards.
I dunno ... I read political journals too. I'm a PoliSci major.
Are you denying the existence of unbiased media sources? Or disputing these ones? I'd hate to think I'm missing out on better news.
Well ginger I think it's better to be critical of everything anyway.
And Salomea, I'm genuinely interested in reading any sexist Palin articles you know of ... I wasn't being a sarcastic prick when I said that.

Love it. Thanks for the link.
