Humans normally sleep for 8 hours after being awake for 16 hours, perhaps with a nap following a meal during the hottest part of the day, and begin to become psychotic after 48 hours without sleep. Cats normally sleep several times a day, for a total of 18 hours per day. As far as I can tell, our cat has been awake for more than 20 hours waiting for a mouse to come out of our wall. What do you think it's like when a cat becomes psychotic?
