If you're interested in what purportedly influences neo-cons, here's something I wrote on Leo Strauss that's sympathetic

I can't watch the RNC. I feel dumber every second it is on.

Yeah, the party has been hijacked by anti-intellectual Christianists.

I was just going to say that I literally feel ill watching this. Especially Mitt Romney.

He just went over the banking crisis.

Government spending? Dude, the Republicans were in charge of the budget, free rein, for 'bout six years, if I remember correctly.

@ Oom - I'm staying as quiet as I can about a lot of these issues here. I haven't been so quiet on the blog.

You know, I wouldn't have such a problem with Republicans if it wasn't for the glorification of mediocrity. I long for William Buckley Jr.

Well, they wrote the budget free and clear with the Presidency and Congress locked up from 2000-2006. I won't talk about the compromises that Clinton made since 1994. Any recent financial crisis is squarely on their backs; they controlled the purse-strings and the Legislatosaurus.

I find the rhetoric heavy going.

As always, I'm just thrilled that people are talking in this thread. Thank you all for saying something!
