I have a student that tells me she has ADD several times a day. I call shenanigans because obvs. she is capable of focusing on something.

Teach the little fucker about WHINERS. If she doesn't look inward after the lesson, stab the little brat.
ADD doesn't mean that a person has an inability to focus on anything. For me, my ADD means I have a hard time focusing on any one single thing for a length of time unless it's ABSOLUTELY imperative I do so (like taking a test). Things like studying, reading (for school or pleasure), watching tv, movies at home, video gaming are sometimes hard for me to do. I start watching a show I've recorded on DVR, then 15 minutes in start playing video games, play three matches, then start reading an assignment for class. All the while haphazardly surfing the net. Even when I'm paying attention in class, I surf the net on my laptop while I take notes.
Just because somebody has the ability to focus doesn't mean they don't have ADD.

Wow, so enabled.
