Oh, and I think I wrote a letter to President Bush to support his policy on providing amnesty to illegal immigrants - amnesty? I meant, "path to citizenship" - but I never sent it out.

I also have an outline for a letter for then Russian President Putin that I never sent.

I wrote a letter to a group called "Zero Population Growth" or something in high school as part of a project and didn't hear anything back. I also wrote a letter to Pert(? Maybe something else?) about how 2-in-1 shampoo worked, and got a whole packet from them.

I don't think that either of these would count as 'important people.'

Re Pert: That's amazing! I'm going to start writing love letters to companies for all the things I like, and maybe score some free stuff!!

Subject: Rights of Indigenous Groups in the Amazon. It was part of a multi-school project, and not in the finalists who got forwarded to real people, but received good marks. Pretty much followed that format.

so, yeah?

I do it all the time (writing to politicians mainly), but only with my job. I've never done it in my own capacity - and I'm almost never the person who signs the letter!

@om nom nom: Fail :[

@Mister Darcy: Wow. Serious stuff. I had no idea you were so political!

@Mace: I have always been a little skeptical about 2-in-1 shampoo.

@N0mi: It could also see that working for products you're interested in but don't want to spend the money on without knowing if you like it. For example, if you see an ad for a new shampoo but don't want to buy a whole bottle of it, maybe you could ask them to send you some travel-size samples.

@Chrome Raven: What level of school was this?

@sound of snowsuit: FRAUD! jk.

I wrote a letter to Disney, Disneyland, & Disney World explaining that their online services literally stole from me and when I tried to resolve the problem their online support was non-existent and that they literally have no one live to speak to, it's only automated responses. I sent the letter so that I could hopefully get a real person to answer it. I did get a reply from someone at Disneyland, they said they would forward my letter.

I think about writing letters like this all the time, but never do it. Part of it is a lack of time, part of it is where it falls on my list of 5000 other things to do, but part of it is the belief that nothing will happen. I often feel like a better course of action is so obvious, but I think I would have an aneurysm trying to affect someone's actions via a letter. Then that thing they do that annoys me would become that thing they do that annoys me so WHY DON'T THEY LISTEN?????
