That's just one example though. I've found if my name is associated with anything, I become extremely anal about it going my way. I feel like I would rather do it and have it done the right way (ie my way) the first time then have to explain it to someone and have it not to my standard.

dude i'm totally with you. i only take advice from people that i respect in that respective area- aka: people i already know are better than me with whatever project i'm in charge of. Everyone else either follow my rules, or they can just go do their own thing.

I'm in charge of employee events here at work. I love it because I have a bunch of ideas for things that I think people will enjoy. I've found that when I have an idea and share it with someone, they always have other ideas or suggestions. I try to take it well, and outwardly I'm sure it looks like I'm appreciative of their input... but inside I'm thoroughly annoyed. All I want is to hear "That's a great idea" or "That sucks, try again" ... I don't want to be told how to organize it or set it up or anything like that. I'm not an idiot, I can do it myself.
