I loved Woody Allen's earlier stuff, but what happened between 1980 and now?

I think he just got old and gave up on trying to be Ingmar Bergman.

He started fooling around his squeeze's adopted daughter and then married, is what happened.

@hey_oblomov: the article I read and responded to almost said that, I'm kicking myself for not picking up on it and developing more.

@Aartaud: I have trouble watching the films with Mia Farrow. Zelig fell flat for me.

there are a few bright spots

i enjoy much of MANHATTAN MURDER MYSTERY, feels like an older-school Woody/goofy rom-com

i was never as big a fan of the more serious stuff, but Crimes and Misdemeanors and Husbands and Wives are quite compelling

i actually stopped watching Woody's movies after Curse of the Jade Scorpion, which felt like something he'd scribbled on a bar napkin and then went and shot

Everyone Says I Love You! (Because of Ed Norton dancing!)
