My backup job just laid me off. That's about half my income gone in a fell swoop.

It was set up initially as sorta project-based but they've needed me for the last few months. Project's as done as I can make it, so that's that. They thought they might have more work for me but looks like no go.
Crap.
I need to land a primary gig before I can sweat about not having a backup.
Fuck if I know. I've got about two more hours of work today I think before the project runs dry. Things are starting to turn around at the primary job, i.e., staff employees are up to 75% pay but contractors are still straight hourly; maybe I can talk them into some more hours but it's doubtful. Anybody need freelance editorial help?
Anadyna: I don't think so, it was only an average of 16 hours a week and I do have a regular job although it's 1099.
It must have been a well-paying job.
I am with ABNA for something turning up for you soon.
Maybe the GTI has connections.
@Anadyna: Not particularly well-paying, but it made up mostly for the shortfall at my primary gig which has been going through rough times. And they didn't pay enough to start with. Le sigh.
Well, trying to keep upbeat.
Thanks, everybody. Trying to keep upbeat and will send out a round of resumes this weekend sometime. Primary job's too much of a rollercoaster to be dependable so I hope something better pops up.
I appreciate the good wishes.

dude......!
Office Space/revenge their asses!
for serious, though, that completely sucks, man. condolences...
