There is a very nice downtown area with restaurants and bars and such. And I can walk from the train station very easily. I've done it before. I took the train from Oklahoma City down to Ft. Worth and we stopped for a couple of hours on my way down to Austin. I walked around downtown Ft. Worth and had a very nice time. They have cane sugar Dr. Peppers!

Oh, it will likely be hotter than hell. Wear loose clothes, drink water. Ft. Worth also has some surprisingly nice art museums. The Kimble has a couple of actual Monet's, which is fairly uncommon for Texas.

I used to live in Irving, TX.
I don't know if you're into opera, but Bass Hall in Fort Worth usually has very very good shows. Denton, which is around you, has an up and coming indie rock scene - the band Fishboy is from there, and they are very good I think.

I do trust you. I'm a bit of a cold weather fan. Tennessee was actually decent...up until the last 2 days I was there...and I was sweating my balls off.
