I might have to give my crazy foster cat away
Replies
But last night I finally talked live to one of them. She told me that the guy who's been calling the most lost his cat to cancer last year, and he doesn't have anything else in his life right now. And he's fallen hard for this cat, who he was feeding for a while when he was wild.
I mean, I love Flaco and all, but not as much as this guy seems to. He's been looking for him all over, hoping to take him in.
What should I do?
He has been asking if he can come over to see him. At first I thought it was a scam, someone trying to case my house. But the nice guy at the pet store vouched for him, so I'm thinking it's cool.
That's rough. You've bonded with Flaco, so it's going to be hard to let him go. At the same time, you can feel secure about him going to a loving home. We can give you advice, but it's really up to you.
If you need crazy cat time, you can always come to my house.
Well you called it a foster cat.. does this not imply that you intend(ed) to give him up at some point anyhow? If you've found a great potential home for him, why not check it out?
Flaco's been extra crazy today. He's doing that cat thing where he attacks the thin air, then runs away at full force, the entire length of the house. Nutso, yet cute.
I call him a foster cat since I'm allergic to cats. I never thought I'd be able to live with one this long, but so far it hasn't been bad. The problem is I'm starting to kinda like him, you see. Damn my tender heart.
Ahhh... I've heard that people can "cure" their allergies to animals by having one over a long period of time.
It might just be this one cat that I can tolerate. I still sneeze like crazy after an hour at Seemingly Satanic's or Weegee's houses.
Trevor seems to be doing pretty well with Jack, so far. He's very sleek and barely sheds, so that helps.
Aw! I would be wary too, but probably end up feeling sorry for the guy. There's always another stray to fall in love with and take in... (against a mother's best advice ;) )
I would speak on the phone with the guy who called. See if he is worthy. Make friends and visit the Flaco ever so often.
Otherwise, you are doing a good job keeping the kitten safe, warm, and happy so you make a fairly decent foster parent. Maybe the guy will find another pet?
Mace kind of hit the nail on the head. I would talk to said gentleman and see if his plight seems to be as dire (and his intentions sincere) as others have made it out to be.
If so, it sounds like he could use a friend. On the bright side, lots of wonderful kitties need homes. ^_^
Also, I will totally put on cat ears and paint whiskers on my face to make you feel better.

Some neighbors of mine have been calling me about him, asking if any owners have come forward to claim him. I thought they were just being neighborly.
