A German couple is on the Caltrain with 5 kids that range between about 3 and 9. The girl and her little brother are across from me, playing and chattering in German. It's the most adorable thing ever. Mach Spaß, Kinder!

i have this lovely idea in mind of trying to become fluent in german, raising kids bilingually (or trilingually, if i marry, say, a frenchman), and getting over the same-sex-parenting-nomenclature issue by being "vati" while dad #2 is "papa" or whatever.  the tough part is how i'll ever get to fluency level.  plus, finding the husband, and acquiring the kids.  details.
