Help! There is a cute stray kitten on my front doorstep. What do I do?
Replies
I did try to feed him. Note to self: kitten does not like Taco Bell's Grilled Stuffed Burrito. I didn't either really, but I was hungry after skipping dinner to go to the gym.
He did a little better with the turkey sausage he found in my groceries, but I'm worried 'cause it wasn't cooked.
Aw! Well, set something outside for him, water and a snack, and see if he's still there tomorrow. If he does belong to someone and he snuck out, there's going to be a very sad owner somewhere.
I'm not sure. You're actually not supposed to give too much milk to cats. It makes them puke.
maaaaan, talk about sad owners.
Once, when one of my dogs was but a cute lil pup, he snuck through our fence and ran away. We looked for him EVERYWHERE and couldn't find him. I was DEVASTATED.
The next day, one of my neighbors knocked on my door and handed me my doggie. He said they'd found him and brought him home, but that he cried too much so they're giving him back. HEY THANKS, GUYS. Ugh. At least I got my baby back.
Mace, please come adopt this kitten. He has cute brown and white stripes, and is very very thin, and very very friendly, AND I'M ALLERGIC TO CATS AND CAN'T TAKE HIM!
I heard something about butter on the bottom of its feet making it lose the way to your house. But you can't do it obvs if you are allergic.
Also, to be ON TOPIC, I don't know if this is actually good for them or not, but there are always stray kittens running around my neighborhood, and whenever there is left over dry doggie food in my yard, they gobble it up.
I was on topic. I was offering a way to get rid of it. I seriously heard about a trick with butter because they leave behind a scent with their own feet and if their scent is covered up they can't find their way back.
But I can't take someone else's cat! Besides, as lovely as I'm sure he is, I have no idea if he's healthy or not. Besides, I got my heart broken two years ago by a cat I could not have, that wanted SO BADLY to live with us. Oh Zero.

Well, I put a saucer of water and some more turkey sausage on the porch, but when I went to try to take a picture of him, he was gone. (I'm just assuming he's a boy - I didn't look that closely.)
We'll see if he shows up again.
.....i wasn't saying you were being on topic, bro. i was saying i was being off topic with my random story about my dog. jeez.
If he shows up again, I might. Really. He's too cute to be homeless in this cold weather.
I've started calling him Flaco.
I'm a professional pet rehabilitate/home finder.
This place is already too small for my two puppies I don't think a kitty for a few weeks would do us any harm.
Are you thinking of staying out here longer? Or will you be on the road again soon?
It depends on how long I'm needed/wanted.
But it seems I'll be around until mid-september either way.
Good, then I still have a chance to lure you over here someday. With carrot cake and kittens, if that's what it takes.
Maybe. Except we don't leave Berkeley.
Perhaps I will have to lure you over here where you can drink mexican coke and play super nintendo (we have every game ever made and vintage controllers hooked up to the imac) to your hearts deeeeelight.
I am occasionally in the East Bay (as the boy lives in Oakland) - this can be arranged.
Morning update:
The food is gone, but no sign of Flaco yet today.
It's quite possible the neighborhood raccoons ate the food, or the neighborhood dogs. I'm gonna keep an eye out today.

No tags, no collar. I can't take it in, because I'm allergic.
