an email from the CEO of my company:
"Now that I have graduated from my cassette only car to a 6 CD changer in my new ride I want to propose a CD contest.
Rules:
Ø Choose a mix of your favorite music.
Ø 1 CD entry per person.
Ø Label the CD w/ band name/song name/your name.
Ø CD will not be returned
Gift: A gift will be given to the person making the ‘best’ presentation of tunes.
MJ musical taste:
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Mark Knoefler/Emmylou Harris, George Thoroughgood, J Geils Band, Fleetwood Mac, Police, Fountains of Wayne, Whitesnake, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Kinks, Eagles, Mozart, Aerosmith, REM, Pussycat Dolls, Dixie Chicks, Gypsy Kings, The Doors, Rage against the machine, Killers, Coldplay, Styx, Peter Gabriel, Green Day, Santana, Phil Collins, Limp Bizkit, Cranberries, Rolling Stones, James Taylor, Stevie Ray Vaughn
… to name a few!"
so.....what bizarre things do you suggest I put on this mix?
Replies
That's his taste in music? Is that supposed to be a foundation for the mix, or is he trying to expand? Cause if it's the former, why doesn't he just forgo any media player and listen to the radio? :P
i think the mix can be anything, but I also think he's being serious with that list as far as his tastes go
Six disc changer? Do they still put those in cars? You should tell him about an exciting piece of technology called the iPod. It's only been out for about 7 years now. He might even be able to use one with his car.
Imagine. That makes his 6 disc changer kind of look like his cassette player. Tell him it's the size of a pack of Lucky Strikes and it'll hold, like, two Limp Bizkit albums SIMULTANEOUSLY, without having to worry about how scuffed up a CD is on the floor of his 53 packard (or whatever fancy new wheels he done gotz himself).
To hell with this contest. You should lobby to DJ a company event. Electric Slide for everybody!
i don't want to get fired just yet Osteo
(although I'm considering putting on songs that might accomplish that)
whitesnake and j.geils band?
i'd totally call the police if I were you.
Joe Esposito - You're The Best Around
Stan Bush - The Touch
Survivor - Eye Of The Tiger
Kenny Loggins - Highway To The Dangerzone
Bonnie Tyler - Holding Out For a Hero
Michael Sembello - Maniac
Survivor - Moment Of Truth
Craig Wedren and Theodore Shapiro - Higher and Higher
Trey Parker - Montage
wtf carlo, no "fight to survive" (theme from bloodsport) by stan bush?
I already have two Survivor songs on it. Can't have two Stan Bush songs as well. That would be pushing it.
I recommend nothing but the entire soundtrack to The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly and the entire soundtrack to Shogun Assassin.
this makes me sad because regardless on how bad his music taste is and how out of date he is with technology - this is 10x cooler anything my ceo would do.
1. Call the RIAA and report that your boss is soliciting pirated music.
2. Then give him a CD full of Barbra Streisand. @Corey Hart can let you have access to his extensive collection
So he likes a lot of crap. At least he's trying! Besides, he likes the Kinks! If you don't make this mix, I will.

There is something deeply wrong with this playlist.
