So, remember that friend I was considering "breaking up" with?

We've been in a tentative friendship since our last fight. I apologized for what I did, but pointed out that he did the same thing, and he did it first, which gave me the idea in the first place. He doesn't feel he has any blame. I feel that I've made my attempt at peace, and that it's his move. We've seen each other out a couple times since then and been ok, but he's also not invited me to a party at his place while inviting all our other mutual friends.

He IMs me today for the first time in three weeks to ask if he can borrow $70 for two weeks so he can buy gas and food. This is the only thing he's said to me since the incident. Am I wrong to be annoyed by this?

Would you lend the money out if you were in my situation? (I have the money to lend, so that's not the issue.)

may i ask what it was you both did to cause the fight? just curious. feel free not to answer.

I'd be annoyed, beyond annoyed actually, and wouldn't lend him the money. if your friendship is already on shaky ground, adding loans into the mix won't help.

This is definitely annoying. And somewhat bad of the friend to ask after all this.

@sbox - We were all hanging out with a group of friends drinking. Somebody joked that I still had pants on (my dislike of pants is well known in this circle of friends), so I acted like I was going to take off my pants. This caused one of our friends to laugh hysterically, so I played it up a little bit. I was standing near my friend when I was hamming it up, and he decided he didn't want me kinda taking my pants off around him (he used to live with me, so me in boxers shouldn't have been an issue), so instead of saying politely or forcefully that I should stop, he took to hitting my calves with drumsticks, hard enough that I had welts the next day. I stopped and sat back down, but, being the king of bad ideas when I'm drunk, decided five minutes later to repay him. So out of nowhere, I went over, picked up a drumstick, and wailed on his calf once. He got up and looked like he wanted to deck me; I walked outside.

The day after, I told him that what I had done had been really dick. I acknowledged my level of douche. I also told him that if he hadn't have hit me first, the idea to hit him with drumsticks would've never been put in my head. I apologized for not letting it go and being the better man. He refuses to believe he has any fault in the situation at all.
