I've never posted a videogame topic on GTI ... this must be rectified. Fave videogame soundtracks?
Replies
I much prefer Masashi Hamauzu's compositions for FFX over Nobuo Uematsu's.
baldurs gate had a pretty solid soundtrack cd that came with one of the editions.
Streets of Rage 2 (i say again, that game got me into electronica)
Alien vs. Predator (arcade)
Pnickies
Spider-Man (arcade)
Xexyz
Sonic 2
Mega Man 1 -> 3
Godzilla (NES)
River City Ransom
that save room song from Resident Evil Code Veronica
a ton more I can't remember right now. . .many of which are arcade only
Quake 1. Trent Reznor did the score, and it's astounding.
Katamari Damacy.
Every single GTA.
I kinda liked the Halo soundtrack, too.
the only ones i've ever really listened to are Michael Giacchino's CALL OF DUTYs.
i'm a big soundtrack fan but for some reason this particular niche has escaped me. perhaps b/c i don't play video games.
Hands Down, All-time favorite music in a video game: Maniac Mansion for NES. I want to have the music from that on my computer so I can listen to it any time I want.
Descent 2
It was encoded as CD audio, so I still play it in my car, even though I don't play the game anymore.
Original Score:
Final Fantasy 6
Katamari Damancy/We Heart Katamari
Castlevania, pretty much the whole series
Soul Calibur 2
Bust a Groove (the dancing game not the puzzle game)
Street Fighter 2
Super Smash Brothers Brawl, pretty much take the best songs and remixes them from all the series involved
The Orange Box (yes all three games have good music IMO)
Licensed Sountracks
GTA: Vice City and San Andreas
Road Rash 2 (3D0)
Rock Band

Note - I listen to a lot of soundtracks to games I've never even played.
Games I've played:
Ico (fucking sublime)
We Love Katamari
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Chrono Trigger (Arranged versions are excellent)
Final Fantasy X
Games I haven't played (some egregiously huge holes in my gaming I know):
Albert Odyssey
Myst III
Parappa the Rappa
Shadow of the Colossus
Chrono Cross
Silent Hill 2
